Lourdes is a small town in the Haties Pyrenees region of south west France. In 1858, Our Lady appeared to Bernadette Soubirous, a young peasant girl at the grotto of Massabielle in the town of Lourdes. Millions of pilgrims have since travelled to Lourdes to pray to Our Lady to intercede on their behalf to her Son, Jesus Christ. Bernadette related Our Lady’s wish for people to come on Pilgrimage to Lourdes and we extend that invitation to you. The Lady told Bernadette to tell the Priest to "build a chapel" and to "tell people to come in procession". You are answering that call to go to Lourdes and reply to the "Beautiful Lady." It gives us the chance to cleanse ourselves in the very water that Bernadette found and to pray that on our return home, we can carry out the messages of Lourdes in our daily lives, to our family and friends and to people who need our thoughts and prayers.

A Call to Prayer and Reconciliation

In these troubled times pilgrims are making their way in increasing numbers to shrines and places with a special association with the Virgin Mary. Pilgrims travel to Lourdes, where Mary appeared to Bernadette for spiritual healing and in response to a call for prayer, penance and reconciliation. This is particularly relevant if we are to live within the world of today but not be enslaved by it. Join pilgrims from around the world to bathe in the waters, prayer, meditate and join the community in candlelit procession.

This pilgrimage is available for groups of 15 or more pilgrims
